Richard Higby Astrophotography
Saturn - These early attempts show the challenge of taking colour images with a short focal length telescope. Still a thrill to capture this.
At a distance of 1.5 billion Klms this gas giant is a never to be forgotton site through a telescope.
Regrettably image details have been lost for this one other than the scope was a Takahashi TOA130F (5.1")
Taken with a Meade LX200 8" with an LPI camera.
Alt.Az mount at F/20 (4000mm focal length)
Comparing the two images one can see why aperture is so important with this superior 8" image.
